Although If anything, I swore Ranko was gonna tell her the classical advice of "is okay if you don't fight, you can help others in other ways"

I thought so too, especially with the thing Ranko said to Nagomi right before the sheep maids captured them ("I once learned what you stand to lose unless you fight"). Although this could still come into play in a later episode. That is, this line sticks with Nagomi & she chooses to either fight in her own way or she picks up a weapon for the 1st time (saving 1 of the other maids, dealing the 1st blow, or having a big role in/planning the next/final assault).
